Gandhi’s impact on the world was incredible. Many people thought that it was an impossible task to be non-violent. Gandhi had been tortured, beaten, and even thrown in jail, but not once did his temper flare. People who lived after him have looked up to him as their hero and used his philosophies. For example, Martin Luther King Jr. thought of Mahatma Gandhi as a hero and used Gandhi’s peaceful protest skills in his speeches to help free the Blacks. Where did Gandhi get his non-violent protesting expertise? Many people and their books influenced him, such as Henry David Thoreau, who wrote books on civil disobedience.

All the information that influenced Gandhi throughout his life, from books to personal experiences, caused him to accomplish many extraordinary tasks. Not only did he free the Indians that lived poorly in South Africa, but also the Indians who were being badly treated in India by the British. He believed that freedom was being taken away from them, and so he fought for this right for all human beings. Gandhi’s religion, Jainism, said that a living organism keeps coming back to life in a different body until one has done enough good to go to heaven, and so Gandhi has definitely gone to heaven.
