Independence

Gandhi did not give up. He kept
protesting until the beginning of World War II. Germany and Hitler started World War II
and after it ended, the British were forced to give India its independence because they
were very weak. So on August 15, 1947, Gandhi’s life long dream had been
accomplished. Everyone rejoiced on that day and Gandhi was the happiest of all. Then it
all came to an end on January 30, 1948 when a man came pretending to bow down in front of
Gandhi when he was going for the last meal of his life and fired three shots. His last
words were, “Oh god, oh god.”
